Dorothy Dundas is a psychiatric survivor
and longtime advocate for those in the mental health system. Diagnosed with
schizophrenia in her late teens, she received forced combined
insulin/electroshock and neuroleptic drugs, yet she ultimately recovered fully -
not because of, but in spite of those brutal "treatments." Through a number of
op-ed pieces and a poster she created from her hospital records (Behind
Locked Doors), she has voiced her opposition to abusive psychiatric
practices. Dorothy lives in the Boston area, where she raised her four
children and presently runs The Crystal Lake Express, a local car service.
