•The mission of the Soteria-Alaska Pilot Program would be
to effectively and
efficiently treat mentally ill individuals within the Alaska community with a quality and cost effective
program that demonstrates
the effectiveness of an alternative to acute hospitalization and which allows them more choice and
flexibility in the initial
stages of their illness than a traditional hospital program.

•To effectively use a community and milieu recovery model
as the basis of a program to
meet the needs of those Alaskan who would respond to such an individualized approach to the
treatment of their mental
illness, that if proven as a model will provide an additional choice/option for effective treatment.
