•Dr. Loren Mosher's Soteria-House project and study in the 1970's proved that people who are in acute psychiatric crisis, who would normally be hospitalized, can be at least as successfully treated and have better long term outcomes (lives) if they are allowed to get through their initial psychotic episode(s). The Michigan
State Psychotherapy study proves the
same thing. The Michigan
study also shows that in the short term there are significant cost savings and the long-term cost savings are enormous.
